Design and Installation of OPTIMAL System Mobile Walls

Are movable walls safe to use?

Yes, OPTIMAL movable walls are tested for resistance to mechanical stress, including crowd pressure and impact. The systems comply with applicable safety standards for use in commercial facilities. Long-term wall performance is supported by after-sales service, and the doors can be equipped with panic bars to facilitate evacuation scenarios.

Can mobile walls include a door?

Yes, on the OPTIMAL mobile wall A module with a door leaf function can be used in either a single-leaf or double-leaf configuration. The passageway can be equipped with a panic bar, a door closer, and an access control system, which is essential in facilities with heightened evacuation requirements.

What is the difference between manual and semi-automatic operation?

In the manual , the movable wall is operated using the included crank. In the version semi-automatic modules are unfolded manually, while the extension and retraction of the lower and upper horizontal pressure bars and the locking of the wall are performed by an electric drive. The semi-automatic version reduces the time required to open and close the system in high-traffic areas.

How is a movable wall mounted? Does it affect the floor?

No. The OPTIMAL movable wall does not interfere with the floor and does not have a floor guide. The tracks are attached to the structural elements of the ceiling of the floor above, and the installation method is selected individually based on the type of ceiling during the design phase. After the tracks are installed, the modular components are manufactured and, in the second stage, installed in the prepared tracks.

How long does it take to install a movable wall?

Standard processing takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the system configuration and the type of ceiling. The installation of the movable wall is carried out in two stages. The first stage involves installing the track and taking the final measurements of the wall; the second stage involves installing the modules in the prepared guides. How does parking in the center differ from parallel parking against a movable wall?

Axial parking is a single-trolley systemthat allows modules to be moved and stored along the wall axis at one or both ends of the track and rotated 90 degrees. Side parking is a two-carriage system, which allows the modules to be routed to a pre-designed storage compartment outside the wall line. The choice of system depends on the room layout and available storage space; it is selected by the design department during the conceptual phase of the OPTIMAL movable wall system.

At what stage of construction should the track for the movable wall be installed?

Does a movable wall effectively soundproof adjacent rooms?

Rw is a weighted sound insulation index, expressed in decibels, describing a partition’s ability to reduce airborne sound between rooms. For conference rooms and spaces requiring confidentiality during conversations, walls with high Rw ratings are essential.

What level of sound insulation do OPTIMAL movable walls provide?

Mobile acoustic walls from the OPTIMAL 110 series achieve sound insulation up to Rw = 57 dB, depending on the module’s configuration. These values are confirmed by the ITB acoustic classification. What does the EI30 fire resistance rating mean for a movable wall?

How do acoustic panels work?

Acoustic panels absorb sound wave energy, converting it into heat within the material’s porous or perforated structure, which reduces sound reflections within the room and shortens the reverberation time. They do not block sound between rooms (that is the purpose of walls with a high Rw value), but they do improve acoustic comfort within a given space—they enhance speech intelligibility and reduce reverberation. How does the NRC coefficient differ from αw for acoustic panels?

αw is the weighted sound absorption coefficient determined in accordance with PN-EN ISO 11654 across five octave bands in the range of 250–4000 Hz. NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) is the average absorption value for the frequencies 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz, used primarily in specifications of American origin. Both indices describe sound absorption performance acoustic panel – the higher the value, the better the acoustic properties.

Where are wall and ceiling acoustic panels used?

Acoustic wall and ceiling panels are used in conference rooms, open-plan offices, reception areas, private offices, as well as dining and educational spaces, where controlling reverberation and ensuring speech intelligibility are important. Does installing acoustic panels in an office require structural modifications?

No. The panels are mounted on walls or ceilings using mounting systems selected to suit the surface, which allows for installation even in occupied spaces. The layout of the panels is designed to achieve the desired acoustic effect while maintaining the visual cohesion of the interior.

CPL and HPL Wall Panels by OPTIMAL System

How do CPL and HPL facings differ?

CPL and HPL are the same material — a high-pressure laminate composed of paper and resins, with a density of at least 1.35 g/cm³, evaluated according to the same EN 438-3 standard. The only difference lies in the production method: CPL (Continuous Pressed Laminate) is produced using continuous technology in double-belt presses, while HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is produced in multi-deck presses. Are CPL laminates just as durable as HPL?

Yes. CPL and HPL Laminates They have identical performance characteristics because they are evaluated according to the same EN 438 standard. This includes resistance to abrasion, impact, scratches, water vapor, and stains. For vertical (wall) applications in Class V, the EN 438-3 standard requires abrasion resistance of at least 150 IP revolutions. CPL offers the same durability parameters as HPL, with greater flexibility in sheet formats and lengths.

For what types of buildings are CPL/HPL wall panels suitable?

CPL/HPL wall panels are used in high-traffic commercial facilities – hotels, office buildings, retail facilities, and public buildings – where abrasion resistance and ease of cleaning are key.
